|apexart's Unsolicited Proposal program is an opportunity for anyone from anywhere to submit an exhibition proposal to apexart. During an announced call period, apexart accepts 500-word, idea-based exhibition proposals for evaluation by a large international jury.
We believe that our complex system of crowd sourced jurying it is the most objective and fair processes of evaluation. Submissions are reviewed anonymously and solely on the strength of their idea. Previous curatorial experience is no way required and will not factor in the selection process.
Two proposals with the highest ratings are presented each season at apexart. For those in or outside the field, this program is a unique opportunity to have a professionally mounted exhibition in New York City!
Based on the idea of creating a franchise, apexart holds a worldwide open call for proposals for group exhibitions to be presented anywhere in the world other than New York City. Annually we accept 500-word submissions outlining your idea for an exhibition. Two winners selected by a jury will be the director, curator and/or staff of their own month-long apexart franchise with an $8,000 exhibition budget, a modest salary, and almost complete control. apexart provides the funding along with the necessary guidance and administrative support to make the curated exhibition happen. The Franchise is an opportunity to help bring an idea to fruition in a new place and to illustrate that the center of the world is wherever you are.
