Sarah Hollars grew up in rural Southeastern Oregon and currently resides in Brooklyn New York. Through various mediums including painting and installation, Hollars explores where one’s collective knowledge ends and personal history begins. This exploration is conducted through the reanimation of diverse memories from the artist’s life that at first seem intensely intimate, but reveal themselves as shared by a larger public.

In 2005 Hollars received a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Art from the University of Washington, Seattle; in 2007 from the University of Oregon, Eugene a B.F.A. in painting; and in 2012 from Hunter College in New York an M.F.A. in painting. Currently she teaches at Hunter College as an adjunct faculty member.
