  Ceko Nihckasson (Mohamed Diabate) is an artist based in Abidjan, Cote D’Ivoire, West Africa, whose artwork explores a diversity of media. He works within the realm of the "conscience" and maintains a continuous dialogue on the many realities of life and living: violence, peace, poverty, ecology, AIDS, exclusion. His work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions across Africa and in France and he is also the author of various unpublished literary works.

Ceko Nihckasson was recommended to apexart's fellowship program by Professor Yacouba Konate an Abidjan-based curator and philosophy professor at University of Abidjan, Cote D’Ivoire. Professor Konate guest curated an exhibition for DAK'ART 2004, The Biennial of Contemporary African Art.

On May 4, 2005, 6:30 pm at apexart, Ceko Nihckasson will have a moderated discussion with Tumelo Mosaka (curator, Brooklyn Museum).
