Fabiano Cueva Nieto ( b. 1972) is a sound artist based in Quito, Ecuador. He has worked extensively writing, producing and directing sound projects and events for radio, satellite broadcast, and public performances as well as orchestrating soundtracks for a number of experimental videos, installations and multimedia projects. Cueva won the 1st prize of III Bienal Latinoamericana de Radio, Mexico 2000, with a radio drama about Frida Kahlo´s life and has published five limited edition CD’s of his work: Frida Kahlo: Sandunga con Alas (1998); Trece Estaciones (2000); UIO: GYE: Espejo de Sonido (2002); Solo Éxitos (2006) and GÉNERO (2006). Cueva was Editor of the contemporary art catalog Galería de Arte Madeleine Hollaender 25 años (Ecuador) until 2002 as well as for the book From the Andes to the Amazon basin in Ecuador: diary of an explorer: 1939 – 1946 for Goldschmid Archiv (Switzerland 2005). He is also a member of Centro Experimental Oído Salvaje, an international collective created on 1996 with the artists from Germany, Austria and Ecuador.
