Boyan Manchev gave a presentation at apexart on April 18, 2007

Boyan Manchev is Director of Program at the International College of Philosophy in Paris and Associate Professor of Theory of Literature and Philosophy, New Bulgarian University, Sofia. Guest Lecturer at the Sofia University and at the Academy for Theater and Film in Sofia, he also organized and collaborated to projects of ZKM (Karlsruhe), Tanzquartier (Vienna), ICA (Sofia), Kunsthaus (Dresden) and the Akademie Schloss Solitude (Stuttgart). In 2006 he was guest of the EHESS in Paris and Thinker in residence of the project IDEE (Initiatives in Dance through European Exchange). He is member of the Editorial boards of the magazines Rue Descartes (Paris) and Altera (Sofia).

His work concentrates on the theory of the representation, the image and the body and the contemporary conceptualizations of the subject and of the community; it pays particular attention to contemporary visual arts, theater and dance. Author of The Unimaginable. Essays in Philosophy of Image (Sofia: NBU, 2003) and of several edited volumes, essays, articles, reviews and interviews in Bulgarian, French, English, Italian, German and Russian.
