Boyan Manchev is the Director of Programs at the International College of Philosophy in Paris and Associate Professor of Theory of Literature and Philosophy at the New Bulgarian University, Sofia. Guest Lecturer at the Sofia University and at the Academy for Theater and Film in Sofia, he also organized and collaborated on projects for ZKM (Karlsruhe), Tanzquartier (Vienna), ICA (Sofia), Kunsthaus (Dresden), and the Akademie Schloss Solitude (Stuttgart). He is member of the editorial boards of the magazines Rue Descartes (Paris) and Altera (Sofia). Manchev is the author of The Unimaginable: Essays in Philosophy of Image (2003) and of several edited volumes, essays, articles, reviews and interviews in Bulgarian, French, English, Italian, German, and Russian. His work concentrates on the theory of the representation, the image and the body, and the contemporary conceptualizations of the subject and of the community; it pays particular attention to contemporary visual arts, theater and dance.
His residency is supported by the Trust for Mutual Understanding.
