Nanna Nordström is a Swedish artist based in Stockholm, Sweden. She was born 1981 in Jönköping, Sweden and before going on to the arts she studied agriculture. She got her art education at the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm and at the Akademie der bildenden Kunste in Vienna. She has exhibited both in Sweden and abroad. Her artistic works are based on a compulsory bricolage practice. Emerging from imaginative and experimental sculptural gestures, prefabricated objects and raw materials are transformed into constellations, creating huge installations with meandering narratives, pointing towards a central impulse: how to mirror art as well as life, how to speak about the contemporary living conditions in the light of today's power structures. Nordström is one of the holders of the IASPIS (the Swedish Arts Grants Committee's International Programme for Visual Artists) studio grant 2012.
Nanna Nordstrom's residency is supported in part by Iaspis, the Swedish Arts Grants Committee's International Programme for Visual Artists. |
