In-class Sessions (currently online)

  • This program is inspired by our long standing Artist Fellowship Program which gives artists a sort of “time out” from making work for one month, and instead follows a planned itinerary of unexpected activities that encourages them to question whether life is only a reference for their art. Discussion includes how to address life creatively, contradicting existing beliefs, exercising new creative muscles, discovering new sources of inspiration and participating with their surroundings. Issues of success and perception are discussed.

Open Call Jurying Process

  • Each season we get almost 1000 exhibition proposals from more than 80 countries. Using an online interface, students help us determine the exhibitions that will constitute our next season’s programming. More than 25 universities participated in 2020-2021 along with hundreds of artists, curators and administrators from around the world in a crowd sourced process. This is a great opportunity to gain broad exposure to global ideas and practices while encouraging discussion about the writing strategies and content. We provide live voting access, discussion ideas and topics for class use.

Soho/Tribeca Class Tours

  • This is an opportunity for classes to explore our current exhibitions online with an apexart staff person and discuss how they are organized, or pyhsically visiting apexart and one or two other not for profit organizations such as the Drawing Center and Leslie Lohman Museum. Tours can be presented online, or in person in Tribeca starting in the Fall.
