Javier Mazza was born in 1980 in Montevideo, Uruguay. He has a BA in Philosophy and a BA in Drama. As a philosopher he works at Universidad Católica del Uruguay where he teaches Philosophical Anthropology, Philosophy of Language, and Linguistics. His research is primarily interested in narrative identity, the study of how human beings make sense of their lives and themselves through the stories they tell. As an artist he started early in his career as an actor but quickly turned to stage direction and writing where he continues to work today. His staging of Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island and Edgar Allan Poe’s Tell Tale Heart earned him several awards in his country and abroad.
