Kaung Su was born in 1972 in Yangon, Burma. Between 1991-94, he studied painting with the local artist Pyi Soe Myint, and briefly attended Yangon's State School Of Fine Arts. He has been a regular participant in exhibitions since 1995 as well as performance art. In 2001, he had his very first one-man exhibition at Lawkanat Gallery in Yangon. In addition to his performance art, Kaung Su is also a video art/short film maker and author of several articles on Arts & Astronomy. In September 2011 he received a Special Mention for the New Vision Award of the Wathan Film Festival, Burma. He has organized three international exchange programs -- Ongoing Echoes Art Project -- since 2009, and participated in several other foreign art projects. He is a founder/director of Art Rise art-space (Burma) and on the Board of Directors for New Zero Art Space.
